The Most and Least Dependable Cars

For the sixth year in a row, Lexus ranked highest in vehicle dependability, according to the J.D. Power 2017 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study.

Lexus and Porsche were tied #1with a score of 110 problems per 100 vehicles (PP100). Third place was given to Toyota with a 123 PP100. FIAT came in last place with 298 problems per 100 vehicles. See below for all the winners and losers.

Now in its 28th year, the study evaluates the overall dependability of cars and trucks by examining the problems owners experienced during the past 12 months by original owners of 2014 model-year vehicles, including driving experience, features and controls, and much more.

The 2017 survey found that issues with Bluetooth connectivity and voice recognition were the most frequently reported problems after three years of ownership. Additionally, technology is continuing to be of critical importance to owners when it comes to how they think about a vehicle's reliability and how likely they are to repurchase from the same brand.
