Best Cities to Own an Electric Vehicle

While an electric vehicle (EV) might seem like a great way to save money on gas, it may not be as big a savings as you think depending on where you live.

According to an article on PluginCars.com, the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) conducted a study last year on the cost benefit of owning an EV compared to a gas vehicles in 25 different cities in the United States. They found only four cities -- Atlanta, Denver, Los Angeles and San Francisco -- had a total cost of ownership after six years that was below that of a gas-using vehicle. The cost of ownership for an EV in all the other cities was more than owning a gas-powered vehicle. The charts below illustrate the ICCT's findings.
