Best Used Cars Under $5,000
Mobile and browser friendly version of 4Chan's list of cars under 5k.
So What Is A Good Cheap First Car For $5000 Or Less?
Chart Layout: Each segment is divided into 3 categories: Asian/Import, USDM & European unless otherwise noted! To highlight deserving vehicles the “alternates & honorable mentions” selections may not always match the nationality of the primary car. It is possible that the primary choice in one category may be historically less reliable or otherwise deficient compared to an “alternate & honorable mentions” in another category-(lette vs Corolla for example). No chart or guide can completely replace proper, needs based, detailed research into a specific vehicle!
This chart is best used as a beginners guide & general reference, not a final or absolute authority on what cars are “the best”. Sections were split into Asian/USDM/European categories in an effort to provide as large a selection of applicable cars as possible. This is to account for the diverse car market in the US, the regional availability of certain cars & buyer preference. In an attempt to keep the cars on this chart as reliable & accessible as possible for beginners & /o/ novices, vehicles older than 20 years from the time this chart was revised have been excluded.
